Mould Assembly

innomolding.com > Mould Assembly

After we finished manufacturing for all of mould components, it’s the time to get them assembled properly. However a mold fitting and assembly is very important to mould quality. Therefore we must draw a big attention on this process.

To perform a excellent mold fitting job, Inno molding always assigns experienced mold makers who has over 15 years of experience on mould making to do it. All of them are patient, steady handwork, and attention to details.

Prior to mold assembly process, our mould QC will comprehensively measure all of the mold dimension that ensuring we get correct and accurate mold components. After mold trial, our QC staff will provide detailed mold trial reports.

 Pre-assembly Inspection

  • Check if all mold parts are in one place ready for mold assembly, which includes mold base, mold cavity, mold core, lifters, sliders, ejection pins, nuts, O-rings, nozzle, hot runner, etc.
  • Check if all of mold making tools used must be in good condition
  • Check if all the mold components are clean of dirty.
  • Check if all of mold components had corner treatment(0.10~0.30mm of radius or chamfer)
  • Check if all cavities have been numbered, and all of mold plates have clear marks, All inserts are numbered to point to relative cavity.
  • Check if mold Information has been stamped correctly on the mold base, all water lines are clearly stamped with “In” and “Out” signs.
  • Check if nozzle is polish, and all cavities have gates
  • Check if hydraulic cylinders have enough length of stroke.(if have)
  • Verify that all pins, sleeves, sliders, and lifters have the proper fitting clearance
  • Check if all of ejector pins are numbered, and ejection pins and plates are correctly pre-assembled.
  • Check if all slides, lifters, core pins, angle pins, cam locks and guide pins are greased enough.

Our Mold Assembly Process

A side installation(Front Mold)

  • Install A-plate, clamping plat, spacing block, and mold cavity side properly. Check that all parts are marked and that they are installed in the correct position.
  • Install the locating ring, sprue bushing, nozzle properly.
  • If the mold features 3-plate, we need to verify that all latches latch and release is sufficient while injection molding process.

B Side installation(Back Mold)

  • Insert all ejector pins, ejector sleeves, and ejector plate through the pin retainer plate, support plate, and core holes.
  • Install ejection pin sub-assembly on B-Side plate and spacing plate.
  • Check out if all of ejection pins, sleeves, lifters, sliders, and all other moving components can move smoothly.
  • Check if ejector plate have enough travelling space.
  • Check if runner is clean
  • Fasten all screws in a steady condition

Mold Fitting

  1. Use a crane to move A-side sub-assembly unit to mount B-side sub-assembly, and check if two units can assembled and disassembled smoothly
  2. Apply for some red paint on mold core, and close two units together. Use a hammer or mold fitting machine to hit mold base so that we can see red paint marks on mold cavity. In theory, all of close area should be with red paint, and blank area should don’t have.
  3. Check if all of sliders, lifters, and inserts are correctly mounted. And movement should be freely and smoothly.
  4. Check all of cooling nuts, loading rings, and mold lock bar are mounted.
  5. If everything is OK, move the mold tool for mold trial.
